It's warming up in Sandpoint and the days are getting beautiful again! Even the hiking paths are clearing up. I love getting outside and hiking the trails. What a beautiful place this is!

It is REALLY difficult to believe that this is our 5th season in business at Sweet Magnolia B&B. During the past 4 seasons, the Canadian Dollar has been very strong and we enjoyed a large presence of our friends from the North. This year, according to our recent Canadian guests, the scenario is not as lucrative. Add to this my desire to NOT clutter your inbox with unimportant information, and HERE IS THE DEAL!

Until Midnight PDT JULY 8, 2015, we are going to offer YOUR THIRD NIGHT FREE at the Sweet Magnolia for stays until September 30th, 2015. The only EXCLUDED nights are August 7th & 8th. Not just for Canadians, though they inspired the offer. Our clothes, food, gas and beer are still cheaper, eh? Obviously, the offer is based on availability, so get 'em while you can!

As any Sweet Magnolia Guest knows, Cal is a bird lover. Well, ‘love’ is a strong word, but you get the point.

This is truly the best time of year because the Bee Balm is blooming. That means one thing – Hummingbirds! We have documented multiple varieties over the years – Rufous, Black-Chinned, Calliope and Ruby-Throated (pictured).

Our seed feeders are teeming with finches as well…Come sit on the porch glider and enjoy!

We feature this hike because Jill & I just did it yesterday! This is about an hour east of the Sweet Magnolia, but worth the drive East across the North Lake Pend Oreille. 

This is a challenging 4 mile (each way) hike that gains about 3900 feet of altitude to the highest peak in Bonner County, ID. The reward, beyond the view and sense of accomplishment, is the greeting from the local mountain goat herd. Unfortunately, they have been trained to beg, so we have created a potentially dangerous situation for those of us properly trained to not share our sandwiches. After we shooed them away, things were fun from 10 feet away.
